Vertical Cable Tray Trim
Revit by default does not insert a Cable Tray Elbow Fitting of the correct orientation when two (2) surface mounted Cable Tray straights intersect each other. As seen in the screenshots below, when using Revit’s Trim/Extend Single Element (TR) command or dragging the Cable Tray’s MEP Connectors, the resulting elbow is incorrect. Revit will either insert an Elbow Fitting opening in the up direction or add unnecessary reducers and rotations.
However, with Naviate MEP v3.10, a new command called Vertical Cable Tray Trim inserts the Elbow Fitting in the correct orientation, even when the two (2) straights are at different elevations. See the screenshot below with associated workflow steps.
Working similarly to the Trim/Extend to Single Element (TR) command, inserting the correct Elbow fitting in the scenario directly above is as follows:
- Click the Vertical Cable Tray Trim button.
- Select the first Cable Tray as a reference (it will stay at this elevation).
- Select the second Cable Tray (it will move into alignment with the reference).
Note: A prerequisite for this command to execute properly is for Cable Tray System Families to have the correct Routing Preferences configured with loaded Families. Refer to the image below for the minimum Routing Preferences required, circled in red.
The result:
As seen in the screenshot below, the first Cable Tray will remain (as a reference) in the same elevation, while the second Cable Tray will move to an equivalent elevation as the reference. Also, Naviate will read the Cable Tray’s Routing Preferences and insert the correct Elbow Fitting depending on Inside or Outside Bend.
Data Sync
The Data Sync user interface has been enhanced to be more intuitive and provide visual feedback, improving user experience.
Note that the workflow is not changed from previous versions of Naviate MEP. However, the steps for Data Sync start at the top of the dialog and work towards the bottom of the dialog. The Data Sync workflow and updates can be seen in the screenshots below.
Step 1: Select Model Element – clicking the Top Select button will prompt the user to select one 3D Model Element in the project.
Step 2: Select Parameters – clicking the middle Select button will open the Parameter Selection dialog, prompting to move Parameters to Sync to the right column.
Step 3: Select Detail Items – prompts the user to select one (1) or more instances of ‘Detail Items’ Category. These are the 2D Elements that will be included in the Data Sync Relationship.
Step 4: Ready to Create Sync – choose a Sync Direction and click Create Sync. The Data Sync Relationship is now successfully created and can further be managed inside of Data Sync Relationship Manager (this button is found at the top of this dialog).
