Release news Naviate for Revit

Naviate Electrical October Release 2023.1.7

Release notes for Naviate Electrical. Highlights include new features Copy Circuits, Add Circuits, Remove Circuits, Merge Circuits, and the MVP One Line Schedule Plus and Data Synch.

US Units and Project Based Units

Units have been updated from a hardcoded system to default to the projects unit settings. This allows all users to work within their regional settings and still get the same quality results from the calculation, modification, and drafting tools. This update exists for the 2023 and 2024 versions of Naviate Electrical.

Copy Circuits

You can now use the Copy Circuits command to copy elements & circuits that already exist to other locations in a project. Maintain circuiting, panels, and layouts as you quickly lay out areas, and levels.

Copying Circuited Elements:

Using copy circuits on an already circuited element will allow you to copy all elements in that circuit to a new location and add them as a new circuit on the same panelboard.

  • Select an element (2)
  • Copy from one location to another (3)
  • New elements are added as a new circuit to the same panel (3)

Copying A Panelboard & Downstream Elements:

Using copy circuits on a panelboard will allow the user to copy all downstream elements, while maintaining circuiting & reference location, to the new location chosen. When copying downstream elements, it will only copy one level of devices (ex/ a downstream panelboard will not have all its downstream elements copied as well).

  • Select a panelboard (2)
  • Copy from one location to another (in this example from level to level (3,4) using an elevation view)
  • New panelboard is placed, all copied downstream elements are added to the new panel (5)

Add Circuits

You can now use the circuit editing commands to quickly modify a circuit. These allow users to keyboard shortcut commands that typically require menu diving and additional ribbons.

Using add circuit will allow users to quickly move a circuited element from one circuit to another.

  • Select an element in the circuit you want to add to (1)
  • Select the element you want to move (2)
  • Element is added to the first selected circuit (3)

Remove Circuits

You can now use the circuit editing commands to quickly modify a circuit. These allow users to keyboard shortcut commands that typically require menu diving and additional ribbons.

Using remove circuit will allow users to quickly remove a circuited element from the panel and circuit

  • Select an element you want to remove from circuits & panels (1)
  • Element is removed from the selected circuit (2)

Merge Circuits

You can now use the circuit editing commands to quickly modify a circuit. These allow users to keyboard shortcut commands that typically require menu diving and additional ribbons.

Using merge circuit will allow users to quickly merge two circuits together by selecting a circuited element from both circuits.

  • Select an element in the circuit you want to remain (1)
  • Select an element in the circuit you want to merge (2)
  • Circuits are merged (3)

New! (MVP) One Line Schedule Plus

One Line Schedule + is a new MVP command that allows users to generate a one line schedule prior to modeling or circuiting any elements. Once the schedule is generated, and a switchboard is circuited, the data sync command can do a 1:1 sync to link data between the panel schedule and the switchboard diagram. Current functionality is limited to working with a Switchboard Schedule.

Currently does not support manual drafting in the Switchboard Drafting View. If updates are needed / more circuits are needed for the diagram the old one must be deleted, recreated, and re-linked.

Using the provided detail item families as a basis to generate additional types and styles, OLS+ allows users to preset and generate a switchboard diagram. Values for each circuit can be preset, as well as individually edited. Users can add a new circuit, a space, or a spare to generate the schedule.

  • Provide Default Settings for new circuits
    • Selecting a Detail item and Tag for each
    • Providing default values for circuit parameters
  • Add Circuits, Spaces, or Spares
  • Define a switchboard name
  • Individually adjust data
  • Generate a diagram

New! (MVP) 1-Line Schedule Data Sync

Data sync allows the user to map a diagram and a panel together. The two elements must have the same number of circuits, and in the same order prior to sync. One the sync is initiated; users can decide to push or pull data to the switchboard or diagram. Once linked, changes to the circuit are auto updated on both.

  • Determine a Switchboard Diagram to map
  • Choose a direction for data flow, then click OK
  • Select the switchboard to link to the diagram
  • Data will sync across
